What will happen if they don't get it now?- contemporary

Sally will always try and believe she can get what she wants, when she wants. Her sights are on Cliff as she tries to shock him and make herself look like a star she's destined to be. Cliff I believe knows she won't be as successful as she wants to be but likes her determination and her wittiness to a society thats beginning to crumble. Sally will keep performing, boozing and smoking till she can get to where she can in life. She's a very determined and stubborn character as you can see through the rest of the script where she goes back to performing after having her abortion. Nothing will get in her way.

Why do they want it now?- contemporary

Sally needs to be the star to become the success she wants to be. She wants to be something bigger than she can be constantly. With her performances and her lifestyle choices. Even though Berlin was a time of freedom many were still penniless and would do anything to get the money they have worked so hard for. Such as the money song she sings with Emcee 'Money makes the world go around'. Money was a big dream to have after the world war one, Sally wanted to have stability of money. While still being known for a purpose in her performances as a huge star, with all the money in the world.

What does the character want?- contemporary

What do they need?

I think Sally likes the attention of someone and feeling of being loved. I think she tries to shock people to be a 'Anita Berber' character whereas I think she a lot less tamed than that. I think she needs her 'big break' in showbiz. She needs a guy in a fancy suit that has the money to make her the successful star she wants to be. However with being in the era of finical crisis and another war emerging I don't think its whats on people minds to create her into the star she craves to be.

Where have they just come from?- contemporary

Sally isn't metioned before this scene. However Cliff has just been introduced to Fraulien Schnieders house and he gets introduced to Fraulien Kost and Herr Schultz. He then enters the Kit Kat club by the walking down the spiral staircase and watched Sally perform. Sally catches Cliff and feels like he is the only audience member in the room, she's fixated by him.

When is it?- contemporary

Season

It says on the script its December the 31st? so it would be in the colder months. I would see the audience having wearing big fur coats and the men straight coats on the back of their chairs with scarves. I would expect to see gloves on the table to keep their hands warm from being outside.

Year

It says that it's the last day of 1929 so 1930 is just round the corner. This decade is were cabaret ends and Hitler becomes in power in 1933. The rest of Berlin's freedom is nearly coming to a close, where the public doesn't realise theres a bleak rest of the decade ahead of them as the Nazis become in power.

Time of day

The time is at night as its new years eve. The place is all decorated as it says in the script. The Kit Kat  girls are performing with Sally Bowles getting introduced by Emcee performing her number 'Don't tell Mama'. I would expect their to be low lights around the rest of the club so the stage was the main thing lit up.

Week 6- Timed Assessment for partners design

Timed Assessment for Yowians Design 

I received the face and hair charts before so I could look over them and practice the designs. I blocked the eyebrows to enlongate them which was a popular look in this era. I like the way the eyes turned out with the smokiness of the eyes and the lining, defining them and making them look darker.  I french plaited the hair as it was a short curly 1930s wig.

I added in extra clips to keep the hair styled and shaped. If I were to do this again I would practice more on the eyebrows as on the day I had a bit difficulty getting the angle right as I wanted to go up more than downwards.
